BronwynMy family name is Kyte. I have been told for many years that we are descendents of people from all over the UK. My Grandfather some years back took a tour of the UK and found a castle that alledgedly once belonged to our family. I believe it was in Wales? but could be mistaken and it will be in Ireland. I have traced our ancestry back to a John Kyte b.March 31,1769, who married Elizabeth Sharswood(could be Sherwood)b.Feb.29,1763. They are both listed in our family files as comming from Lydd,County Kent England. I cannot however varrify this through marriage or birth cirtifications. They came to this country with a son,Felix Kyte b.Jan.20,1800 who was also born in Lydd. They all arrived in the USA sometime before 1828 when Felix married Eliza Gregier. I am most interested in thier UK connections; specifically a castle that our collective ancestors once occupied. I have seen a picture of my Grandfather standing in front of it but do not have access to any of his files since his death in 1982. I will really appreciate any information anyone can supply. Thank you.
